Ransomware Attack Disrupts Multiple London Hospitals

Broadcom Threat Bulletin brings attention to a significant cybersecurity
hashtag concern: several London hospitals have canceled operations and declared a critical incident emergency status following a ransomware attack on a third-party provider. The attack, detected on Monday, June 3rd, impacted Synnovis, a company providing pathology services to healthcare organizations.

Ian Ebbs, Chief Executive at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust,
confirmed that their pathology partner Synnovis experienced a major
IT hashtag incident earlier this day, which is ongoing and means that they are not currently connected to the Synnovis IT servers. The incident also
affects Royal Brompton, Harefield, and King’s College hospitals.

A government spokesperson revealed that The Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England, and the National Cyber Security Centre have joined forces to investigate a cyber incident impacting several NHS organizations in South East London. Emphasizing patient safety as their top priority and that they are providing support to the hashtag affected organizations.

Synnovis Chief Executive Mark Dollar added that it is still early days, and they are working diligently to understand the full extent of the situation. A taskforce comprising IT experts from both Synnovis and the NHS is diligently working to comprehensively assess the impact and determine the necessary actions. They are collaborating closely with NHS Trust partners to minimize the impact on patients and other service users.

Let’s stay vigilant and be aware of the reality of cyber threats
